A fingerstyle instrumental  – a tribute to the great virtuoso Pierre Bensusan in DADGAD tuning

Description

Composed and performed by Ian Melrose. © 2015 Acoustic Music GmbH & Co. KG (used by permission). This piece is a personal tribute to one of my musical heroes, the great French-Algerian fingerstyle guitarist Pierre Bensusan, who has been a constant source of inspiration for the last 40(!) years and continues to be so. I recorded a version of this for my album „Swirling Sands“ back in 2015, but felt I wanted to revisit it. I’ve changed the middle section somewhat and above all played it a good deal slower (as I get older I like to take more time …), which I think brings out the melody better. I hope you enjoy it!

Recorded, mixed and mastered in July 2025 at Due Leone Studios, Berlin by Ian Melrose. Video post-production: Hans-Georg Flack/ @hans-georg_flack .  Ian Melrose plays an Avalon L325C guitar, uses G7th capos, Rheingold cables/pre-amps and DR strings.
